SUMMARY:Second Sunday Talks: Dave Arch on the David P. Abbott House & the Golden Age of Magic
DESCRIPTION:Secrets of the House of Mystery: Omaha’s Hidden Magic & Legendary Visitors\nDave Arch on the David P. Abbott House & the Golden Age of Magic\nSunday\, June 14 | 2:00 PMMetro Community College\, Fort Omaha – Building 10\, Room 110\n\nJoin us Second Sunday as we welcome Dave Arch\, Executive Director of the Omaha Magical Society\, as he unveils the remarkable story of the David P. Abbott “House of Mystery”\, one of Omaha’s most intriguing and little-known historic treasures.\n\nTucked away at 3316 Center Street\, this unassuming home once drew some of the greatest magicians in the world. Step into the golden age of magic\, where legendary performers like Harry Kellar\, Howard Thurston\, and even Harry Houdini himself gathered behind closed doors to witness and attempt to unravel… Abbott’s astonishing illusions.\n\nThrough rare historical images\, modern-day restoration photos\, and captivating stories\, Dave will take you inside this mysterious house and the man whose magic left even Houdini questioning what was real. This is more than a presentation\, it’s a glimpse into a hidden world of wonder\, right here in Omaha.

SUMMARY:Second Sunday Talks: Kim Isherwood with Preserve Omaha
DESCRIPTION:Join us this Second Sunday as we welcome Kim Isherwood\, President of Preserve Omaha\, for an engaging look at one of the city’s most important advocacy organizations. \nKim will trace the history of Preserve Omaha — from its roots to its role in shaping the built environment of our city today — and share her vision for the future of historic preservation in the Omaha community. Whether you’re a lifelong preservationist or simply someone who loves what makes Omaha’s neighborhoods and landmarks unique\, this is a talk you won’t want to miss. \n  \nKimberly Isherwood is an entrepreneur\, author\, and intuitive based in Omaha\, Nebraska. She is the author of Closure: The Lie We Tell Ourselves and is currently writing a historical fiction novel set in early 1900s Omaha that explores the connection between place\, memory\, and the unseen threads linking past and present. \n  \nShe lives in and stewards a historic 1910 home in Omaha\, where her passion for preservation and storytelling come together in meaningful and unexpected ways. Through her work and leadership as President of Preserve Omaha\, she is dedicated to honoring the city’s architectural heritage while bringing the stories held within its historic places vividly back to life.
