STANDING BEAR COMMEMORATION: 140 YEARS
The Standing Bear v. Crook Trial took place nearly 140 years ago. On May 12, 1879 the landmark trial was held in Omaha and established that Native Americans are persons within the law.
To honor this momentous event, DCHS will host Omaha attorney Larry Dwyer as he presents on details of the trial at Historic Fort Omaha, Building #10, Room #110 with a Frontier Dinner to follow at the General Crook House Museum.
