Guild Book Club

Discover the stories behind the history. History is more than names in a textbook or dates on a timeline. It is the story of real people, extraordinary moments, and pivotal decisions that shaped the world we know today. Each month, the General Crook House Guild Book Club explores engaging historical titles that inspire meaningful discussion, fresh insights, and a deeper connection to the past.

About the Book

For August, we’ll discuss Triangle: The Fire That Changed America by David Von Drehle, the gripping true story of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City. Through vivid storytelling and extensive research, Von Drehle examines the tragedy that claimed the lives of 146 workers, many of them young immigrant women, and explores how the disaster became a catalyst for sweeping workplace reforms and labor protections across America.

Join us for an engaging discussion as we examine a pivotal moment in American history and reflect on the lasting impact of those whose lives changed the nation.
